My birthday has quietly came and went. At least quietly online. Home is a different story. We've had both sets of parents come to visit. School appointments, doctor appointments, illness, dance class, obsessive cleaning, baking and kitchen reorganization have been a big part of my month so far.
Last night I had a small dinner party for friends. I usually host a huge party with 50 or so people, but we kept it down to 19 and a sit down dinner. The adults sat around the table the kids sat in the living room watching a dvd. It was a great evening.
A friend asked me why I was cooking for my birthday. My reply was 'cause it's my birthday and I can if I want to.' I am very lucky that I have people willing to over look my obsessive compulsive behaviors and love me anyway. We all ate until all the food was gone.
I opened some great gifts and we talked, drank and laughed the whole evening. I have to say the bonus was a gift of two books. One on knots. Gods bless the Boyscouts. The other was "position of the day". My friends know me all too well. So we ended the party with red silk cord and tying down anything that moved...well mostly ourselves and each other. The dog was safe this time.
It is early Sunday morning now. It is time to get back to my cleaning and kitchen reorganization. Or maybe it's time for an early nap.
Be well.
